Chapter 5 Prom Queen Kills Deer on Sixteenth Birthday, Women Take Action!: This chapter made me think about how much I thought I loved animals but as I read I saw that my love for animals isn't nearly half of how much others love animals. Some people do a lot to save animals in danger and they are more emotionally involved with them. This didn't suprise me since women are more emotional than man are. However it made me think that I love animals but not as much as I thought. When I was little I wanted to dedicate my life into helping animals and I even volunteered in a animals shelter (It wasn't really volunteering since my aunt worked there and she just took me because I love animals.) I agree with what the author says in this chapter women are more opt to do more for animals than men. When this section talked about how animals die it made me think of a puppy I once had, he died of some disease (not sure what the name of the disease is) after he died I was sad for like a moths because afterwards my grandpa gave me a little pig. However my little puppy, gordo, when he was gone it affected me a lot and I cried for days. Also since I lived in Mexico at that time there were a lot of homeless dogs no one cared about. So I would sneak food out of my house to feed them whenever I saw them. It got me into trouble but it was worth the trouble. I feel like this book, especially this section, reminded me of how much I use to do for animals. Now that I think about it I realize that as the years passed these feelings aren't as strong as they use to be. Which really shocks me because I love animals A LOT! However is not the same I guess because I'm not allowed to have anymore pets.
This chapter also made me think about my mom and sister. They do not like animals at all. So I guess they're one of the few women that don't. Since my mom doesn't like pets she didn't allow me to have them however, my dad would be okay with it and he'll buy them for me. So in my case my mother doesn't feel any type of emotion towards animals however my dad does (only to some animals not all, because he likes hunting).
Finally after reading this chapter it made me want to see what can I do to help more animals. I think I am going to find out and I'll try my best to convince my grandmother to adopt a dog (she doesn't like dogs either).
